Database Management Specialist

Location: Columbia, MD 21046
Work Status: Full-Time

Job Description:
Provides highly technical expertise in the use of DBMS. Evaluates and recommends available DBMS products to support validated user requirements. Defines file organization, indexing methods and security procedures for specific user applications.

The candidate will support one or more of three tasks: the Security Management /Monitoring task; the Secure Boundary task, and/or the Secure Access Architecture and Development task.

Defines and oversees database organizations, standards, controls, procedures, and documentation. Provides experienced technical consulting in the definition, design, and creation of a data base environment. Advises applications development staff and users on data base solutions to business problems, data architectures, data base management system facilities and capabilities, and the operation and tuning of data bases. Ensures economic and efficient availability of data within adequate safeguards. Designs and implements databases with respect to access methods, access time, batch processes, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods. Develops and maintains expertise in use of automated tools for database design and implementation. Develops, maintains and documents JCL, shell scripts and batch processes.

Job Requirements:
U. S. Citizenship is required.  A TS/SCI clearance is required.
Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years related experience, or High School Diploma and 9 years experience, or Associates Degree and 7 years related experience, or Master’s Degree and 3 years related experience, or Doctorate and 1 year related experience.
